About the Cell
Sagi Rama Krishnam Raju Engineering College (SRKREC), a Co-educational, Independent and a Self-Financed Engineering College is one of the oldest institutes formed in 1980’s. Since its inception, it has a long standing academic ambience in providing qualitative technical education to students. The Code of Conduct is followed to foster and protect the core vision, mission and values of the college. The College facilitates equal opportunities for all genders and adheres to maintain the gender equity among the students and staff.
The Women Empowerment Cell of SRKREC is committed towards the promotion and practice of the ideals of gender equity, human dignity and the rights of all human beings. The role and responsibility of WEC is to enhance the awareness of gender sensitization and to create an atmosphere free from any form of ragging, sexual discrimination and sexual harassment, prevention, prohibition and social security, counselling etc. WEC organizes various activities to create awareness on safety and security, self-defence, gender sensitivity and health to ensure a healthy and secure environment to the girl students and the women faculty. Counselling is provided to encourage the students for early reporting of any issues/ complaint/ grievance of anything that comes into the purview of the college.

- Conduction of gender awareness and sensitization activities on a regular basis.

- Establishment of a formal mechanism to deal with issues related to gender discrimination, indiscipline, and abuse.

Objectives of WEC:
- To maintain a homely atmosphere for girl students in the campus.
- To keep a grievances-free environment by providing adequate counseling.
- To deal with cases or complaints of any sort of harassment towards the girl students, teaching, and non-teaching women staff of the college.
- To provide help and support to the victimized and recommend early action to the concerned.
- To keep the details of handled cases confidential and maintain the dignity of the victim and the witnesses so that they are not discriminated against because of their complaints.
- To provide moral support for girl students in times of their need.
Gender Audit Report
Course On Gender Sensitization
In a move to create increased awareness among the students towards gender issues, Sagi Rama Krishnam Raju Engineering College (A), Bhimavaram has introduced a new course on Gender Sensitization for the third year students of engineering for the academic year 2022-23.
MoU’s with NGO
On behalf of the Women Empowerment Cell, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed and executed on 19/04/2023 between the Principal of S.R.K.R. ENGINEERING COLLEGE (A). Bhimavaram and VASAVYA MAHILA MANDALI (an Int. NGO), Vijayawada.
Scope & Objectives of the MoU:

To work for the development of the girl child, adolescents and empowerment of the communities by creating awareness about the importance of issues like sanitation, menstrual and sexual hygiene practices, physical and mental health, women and adolescents' reproductive and sexual health, cancer, pregnancy issues - prenatal and post-natal, depression and anxiety, child care, sexually transmitted infections, nutrition, occupational health hazards and many other issues by using indigenous knowledge of existing resources

To educate the marginalized women and adolescent girls about the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition and the lifelong damaging effects, and thereupon educate them on nutrition, food security, sexual and reproductive health, and health services.

To make women knowledgeable about various policies and schemes of Central and State Govemments regarding Women and Child development and provide access to services and benefits of schemes

WEC organizes activities:
- To build up the leadership qualities of the girl students and the women employees.
- To bring awareness about the code of conduct, self-defence, health and hygiene, gender sensitivity, gender amity, civil rights, cyber security, constitutional rights and safety measures.
- To mould the girls' personalities in professional aspects through training classes by experts.
- To help the girl students eliminate their inhibitions by the expert talks of counsellors, doctors, lawyers and women welfare activists.
- To motivate the girl students to take part in extra-curricular/ co-curricular activities.
Scope of the Activities
The activities on Gender Sensitization will be organised at the institutional level and in association with the university, government bodies, other institutions, NGOs, or Women welfare organizations.
