- Department faculty is actively engaged in carrying out sponsored research work with funding from many National funding agencies which include Department of Science & Technology (DST), University Grants Commission (UGC), and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Institute of Engineers (India).
- During the last few years 14 sponsored research projects with an outlay of Rs 85 Lakhs projects were undertaken.
- Department faculty takes up many industrial consultancy projects annually. Some of the notable sponsors of consultancy projects in recent years include BOSCH, MJB Motors Pvt. Ltd., PMI Toolings, and ASCAR etc.

The Department has established a Project Laboratory / Centres of Excellence to meet the research needs of both faculty and students (UG, PG and PhD). The Centres of Excellence are equipped with Electric resistance furnace, Rotating bending fatigue testing machine, Thermo-mechanical test rig, 3D printer, CAD station, and CNC milling and turning machines for conducting research. Also the Nanotechnology Research Centre (NRC) is established to pursue multidisciplinary research in Nano-science & Nanotechnology. All the research equipment is procured using the funds received from various research funding agencies like DST, AICTE & UGC under different schemes. The other laboratories are well-furnished for conducting experimentation or fabrication of models. The CAD lab is well equipped with the latest soft-wares like SOLID WORKS, CATIA, ANSYS, and AUTOCAD etc. A Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) with all accessories is purchased under MODROBS scheme funded by AICTE. The horizons of research can be further expanded through this additional equipment. Till date the equipment worth Rs. 82,00,000/- (approximately) have been installed for establishing the project laboratory under various schemes.
