CIVIL PROFILE
The Department of Civil Engineering at SRKR Engineering College, Bhimavaram, was started in 1980 and is as old as the department. It has earned a reputation in Andhra Pradesh and the coastal districts for its dedicated teaching and consultancy. The department pulls out all the stops to create outstanding engineers with advanced teaching techniques and learning aids for undergraduate students and a selected section of post-graduate students (Structural Engineering). Students made experts in technical aspects and interpersonal skills, a vital ingredient to excel in the fast-paced world. The B.Tech. – Civil Engineering program at SRKREC is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) thrice.
The department also offers industrial consultancy in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Environmental Engineering. Moreover, the department earns 80% of the college's consultancy revenue. The department also gives importance to publications, which will provide more impetus to research.
The Civil Engineering Department has successfully established eight centers of excellences. Water, Environment and Technology (WET) Centre, wherein research in water quality and environment is conducted mainly through funded projects. The center has research fellows who work on the funded projects and submit that work for the award of their Ph.D. degrees. Andhra University and JNTU Kakinada recognized department research centers.
